Coolio and Aglaea

The coolest couple walked past me the other day. In fact, it was St Patrick’s Day and the city was swarming with people in gaudy greens. Standing at the bus stop on my way out of town, I watched the couple approach. Hipster hunky, the guy with the greenest of pants, black soft leather jacket cut perfectly to his hips, his hair, the slickest of styles, hovered over his vintage sunglasses. She, dark-crimson lipped, in a billowing flimsy frock, with slits to show off her leopard-skinned tight-fitting leotards. These tapered into a pair of leather strapped, extremely high heels on which she balanced with grace.

In their perfectly awesome hairstyles and sunglasses, they unisoned towards me. She, smoothing down her dress to prevent a whirlwind of fabric being dangerously blown up around her neck by the wind. Really! Too uncool having to pat down your dress like that.

There was no need for banter, just serious style strutting. And then on passing, Coolio opened his lips to the lilt of a melodic Cork accent, and said to his graceful Aglaea, “Hey, let’s go to the shop and buy two bananas.”

Now, how cool was that?
