Hi Agnes, sorry for taking so long to get back to you. It’s difficult to answer your question due to its complexity. I agree to an extent that help, whatever the motive is, is better than no help. But if it means, like in the case of France - who, by the way, supported both sides - that through their restricted military intervention the war is prolonged, then this cannot be right.

The whole issue regarding the support Biafra received/did not receive is so complex to explain - a clash of international politics and morals, at the cost of the thousands of civilians who died — I would need to read up a lot to ensure objectivity.

What I know for sure is that, like in Shakespeare’s tragedies, there are usually several layers of political warfare and vested interests in any given civil war or wars between nations. And usually to the detriment of the civilian population.

And, unfortunately, I doubt if this will ever change.
