I wish I could give you an answer, Sharon.
All I know is that a child needs love to thrive, and love is a symbiotic relationship. Unconditional love is the ultimate in love. If you can give love without expecting it back, you’ll find love. And I mean show love to everyone around you. Collect acts of love, however small.
I’m aware that this doesn’t answer your question on loneliness but there is a correlation. I wrote a post a few months ago in which I tell the story of how a lonely little girl found hope in a book she read which in turn tells the story of a lonely girl and how her life blossomed through finding love in all its facets. The book The Secret Garden is one of my all-time favourites and should be read by everyone… my opinion.
If you wish you can read my post and see whether The Secret Garden might be worth reading. It’s so much more than a children’s book.
