I've just remembered, the German for chervil is Kerbel and is a popular herb in Germany, commonly known as Küchenkraut (kitchen herb) or Suppenkraut (soup herb). A lot of people grow chervil in their gardens.

I didn't know it was a close relation of the dreaded hemlock... gulp!
