Fields, under a filigree of frozen dew dust,
are loud enough to stomp and crunch upon.
Warm breath escapes into frigid clouds,
prompting the child in me to play that game
of puffing smoke into the hemisphere.
I pull on an air fag pressed between my lips
and pursing them, whistle out to warm the heavens.
I am so grown-up. And I am rewarded.
It begins to snow ever so…
